Public Works Department Minister Chandrakant Dadra Patil announced today, that he will construct 160 public toilets for the convenience of passengers on the highway under the Public Works Department. The information and location of the public toilet will be made available on the apps such as google map.
Under the leadership of Mrs Varsha Pawar-Tawde, a delegation of Indian Women’s Shakti Sangathan met Public Works Department Minister Mr Patil and requested for the construction of public toilets on the major highways in the state. Along with this, the delegation also presented the suggestions on the facilities and demands of the women passengers to the minister. Mr Patil announced this news at the delegation meeting.
The demands were related to the availability of the sanitary napkins vending machine and incinerator for the disposal of the sanitary pads. Minister Mr Patil acknowledged these demands and assured that arrangements will be made in the latrines on the highway. Mr Patil also clarified that the checking of appropriate sanitation facility’s implementation will be done by women’s self-help groups (Mahila Bachat Gat).
Public Works Department Secretary (Roads) C.P. Joshi, Deputy Secretary P.K. Ingole, the Vice President of the organization Seema Deshpande, Secretary of Mumbai division Surekha Kinggaonkar, Archana Bakshi, and Manju Nair were present on the occasion.
