Chandrakant (Dada) Patil

A rare political personality, the Minister Of Higher And Technical Education, Textile, Parliament Affairs, GoM – Chandrakant (Dada) Patil, is a respected member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. He has dedicated 13 years of his life to full-time service in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As an honoured PWD Minister of Maharashtra, Chandrakant Patil is aiming for the development of the road infrastructure in rural Maharashtra. Additionally, he is also emphasizing on bringing about many reforms for the benefit of farmers as the ‘Mahsul Mantri’ of Maharashtra. As the Guardian Minister of Kolhapur & Pune, he is trying to usher improvements in the area by focusing on sustainable agriculture; developing infrastructure and paving the way for a people-friendly administration.

History

Education & Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad

1998

He attended the Siddhartha College in Mumbai and completed his B.Com. in 1985. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)He became an activist of the student council Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad from 1977 to 1980. During this time, he decided to leave his home and dedicate himself to full-time service at the organisation. In 1980, he started working full time with the ABVP.

Zilla Sanghatan Mantri at Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad

1982

He eventually became the Zilla Mantri in Jalgaon (1980-1982). After 2 years, in 1982, he became the Pradesh Mantri in ABVP. While carrying out responsibilities of the ABVP, he simultaneously increased his reach to Northern Maharashtra, where he got in touch with various communities.

1984

3 years later, in 1984, he became the Kshetriya Sangathan Mantri of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad. Because of his works, ABVP gained recognition in college and university elections. ABVP was the first organisation to fight for student issues; this marked the start of a new transformative journey for the ABVP.

Akhil Bharatiya Maha Mantri

1990

In 1990, he became the Akhil Bharatiya Mantri of ABVP. During this period, he visited every district of India to make people aware about social issues festering the country. It was at this time that the problems in the education sector and issues related to the youth were studied closely. While trying to spread awareness about the Marathwada University, they were opposed from different levels of the society. During this time, the ‘Savaad Yatra’ gained momentum and the ABVP sent a team of youth to spread the message of social harmony in every village of Marathwada. Through ABVP, he started the ‘Garjana’ organisation.

Back to Kolhapur

1993

After 13 years, he went back to Kolhapur in 1993. At this time, he stopped working as a full-time worker and started his first cashew processing training centre in the area, after working in the local agricultural research field. He then started his own his own telecom business – TELEMATIC, in Kolhapur. With an aim to educate the youth, he started a learning centre in Kolhapur called ‘Vidya Prabodhani’, which has produced many of the excellent Civil Services officers in Maharashtra.

1995

He became the joint secretary for Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of the Kolhapur Division from 1995 -1999.

Joined Bharatiya Janata Party

2004

He joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2004 and became the State Secretary of Maharashtra. Later in 2008, he was elected as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from the Pune Graduate Divisional Constituency. In 2009, he rose to the position of a General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party and was later promoted to the post of a Vice President in 2013.

2019

2020

In the first wave of corona, the patients who got infected and recovered, went through many health problems. Also many people were suffering from depression due to covid infection. A post-covid health and blood test camp was organized in Kothrud to bring them out of this depression.

2021

Due to the indifference of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, the Supreme Court had decided to cancel the OBC reservation in local self-government bodies. Therefore, the Bharatiya Janata Party organized a protest across the state against the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. He led this movement as the State President.

2022

Under the leadership of Honorable Eknath Shinde, there was an unprecedented transfer of power in the state. Taking oath in the first cabinet expansion of Eknathji Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendraji Fadnavis led BJP-Shiv Sena alliance government.

2023

A 24X7 scheme is being implemented on behalf of the Municipal Corporation to ensure equal water supply to Pune residents. In the first phase of this scheme, the work in Baner was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Devendraji Fadnavis. Addressing the crowd present on the occasion.
