On 31st July 2017, the official residence of MLAs in Mumbai, i.e., Manora, faced a huge ceiling collapse. Following this incident, the Maharashtra Government is trying to provide alternative accommodation to the 158 Legislators who were living there.

The meeting took place on 7th Aug 2017 to discuss the relocation from the Manora MLA Hostel. The PWD dignitaries accompanied the Revenue Minister of Maharashtra – Chandrakant Patil to this meeting. They concluded that due to the poor condition of the building, it needs to undergo reconstruction work. Hence, all the residence of MLA would be relocated to Ghatkopar.
