Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appealed to all the banks to cooperate for the financing of the Nagpur-Mumbai-Samruddhi Highway. Many nationalized banks have agreed to respond positively to the Chief Minister’s invitation.
The meeting was held at Hotel Trident witnessed the presence of Chandrakant Patil (PWD Minister) and Eknath Shinde (Public Work –Public Enterprises). Senior officials of YES Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Bank of India, Union Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI Bank, Dena Bank, Central Bank, Punjab National Bank, HDFC Bank, Indian Bank, Hudco, LIC, and Canara Bank attended this meeting. Sumit Malik (Chief Secretary), DK Jain (Additional Chief Secretary), Singh Pardeshi (Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Praveen), Kiran Kurundkar (Managing Director), Chandrashekhar Joshi (Construction Secretary – Roads), Ajit Sagane (Construction Secretary – Construction) and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
State Road Development Corporation Vice President and Managing Director Bhushan Gagrani made introductory remarks. Subsequently, Principal Secretary of Public Works Department, Ashish Kumar Singh made the presentation of the Nagpur – Mumbai Samruddhi Highway. There was a discussion on the various issues related to the State Road Development Corporation, in relation to land acquisition in the Question Hour, the petition filed by the farmers in the Bombay High Court, the agitation of the farmers, the various agreements, project preparation, project duration, financial planning and tender process.
Mr Fadnavis said, “Nagpur-Mumbai-Samruddhi Highway is an ambitious project that connects 701 km of 24 districts. With this highway, Maharashtra state will go ahead of other states in the country and the farmers can truly prosper in their lives. The government has been working rapidly to complete this highway by 2020. This highway will provide employment to lakhs of people, and many countries have participated in making this project happen.”
Future plans include setting up of national and internal factories as well as agricultural prosperity centres on the highway. The highway will further make it easier to transport goods within the state of Maharashtra. This project is arousing a great deal of interest among individual’s bas well as big industrialists worldwide. It could very well be one of the biggest advancements in the transport sector in Maharashtra. There will be transparency maintained in the work of this project. He also said that senior officials of the bank should financially help the government for this project as well as for other construction projects.
