1000 Rs Pension will be Given to the Person Imprisoned During the Emergency

It has been decided that a person fighting for the protection of democracy during the Emergency should be recognised and that every person who was imprisoned for more than one month will get a pension maximum of Rs 10000 per month and those who were imprisoned for less than one month will get the pension Rs 5000 per month.

Today a meeting of the appointed sub-committee held to decide the strategy for honouring the people fighting for democracy during the Emergency. The meeting was conducted in the ministerial chamber of the Revenue, Public Works Minister, Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Girish Bapat was present in the meeting.

According to the decision taken at the meeting of the sub-committee, the decision to pay a monthly of Rs 10000 pension to the person who was imprisoned for more than one month during the emergency and after that person his wife will be eligible for Rs 5000 pension. Also, a person imprisoned for less than one month during the emergency will get the pension Rs 5000 per month and after that wife will be eligible for Rs 2500 pension per month.

Specific criteria have been fixed for this pension scheme. Those who were imprisoned during the Emergency must present an affidavit application to Collector Office. Government decision about it will be announced shortly, after which the information will be made available to the Collector Office.

After the application procedure completed by the applicant, the District Collector’s office will be verifying it based on records available related to the confinement. After this, the list of records will be presented to the General Administration Department. According to this list, the amount of pension will be credited to the concerned person, as per the decision was taken in the meeting of the sub-committee.
